Mustafa Suhail al-Basyouni
Age 13
Do you know how a house's heart beats with a little brother? That was Mustafa. For his 13 years, he was beloved by his family, who watched him grow up before their eyes. He was killed in the bombing of the house where his family had taken refuge. After pulling him from under the rubble, his mother and siblings tried to run him to the hospital, hoping he would survive. But death was faster, snatching away the one so dear to his siblings' hearts. Mustafa died because there was no transportation and the bombing was relentless. He was too young to die; he departed holding his dreams in his hands. He left his heartbroken family behind, who, as his brother describes, were left like "hollow trunks of palm trees."
