Yaqeen Hammad

Yaqeen Hammad

Age 13 · Deir al-Balah

The youngest activist in Gaza! Yaqeen was the child thousands loved for her spontaneous content, her radiant appearance, her innocent face, and her kind words, as sweet as the smile that never left her face despite the aggression. She had many dreams and spoke of life in the midst of death. She would say, "They cut off our gas? Well, we made our own," and would search for joy amidst the rubble. She clung to the Holy Quran and to her education despite the famine, the siege, and the ongoing genocide. She once said: "With empty stomachs and faithful hearts, this is a message to the whole world: we are a people whom God has honored with Islam and the Quran." She was killed in a bombing that targeted the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip. She was the youngest volunteer and media activist in Gaza, carrying a burden far greater than her age, and she continued on her path with her brother. Yaqeen, a girl from Gaza, a role model for the children of the world, an innocent child, a martyr for humanity and the homeland!
