Alice Ra'ed Abu Shamala

She was 12 years old — nothing but a child whose only crime was being a Palestinian girl in love with drawing. An outstanding and exceptional student, as if she were a verse walking the earth, a bundle of grace and taste, very cheerful and full of presence, her mother's only daughter. She was killed while sitting beside her mother at six in the morning, by a rocket that shattered her skull.
