Hour al-Ayn Ahmed Hazem al-Madhoun

My wife and my daughter are martyrs in God's care. I mourn my wife, my love, my companion and my partner in life, who was my comfort, who guarded me and protected me. I commend to You, O God, my most precious one, who was the best of wives and the best of support. I commend to You my wife, who knew the Book of God by heart, who fasted and prayed, and was devoted to her family and her home. I commend to You, O God, my beloved baby girl, the piece of my heart, who was four months old. I was waiting to see her grow moment by moment, watching the stages of her childhood as she shared her smile and her laughter with us. My little girl, whom we named “Hour al-Ayn” [Houri of Heaven], so that she would dwell as a houri and a little bird in Paradise. I pray that God grants us patience and solace, and I consider them martyrs alongside the prophets and the righteous.
