A 12-year-old girl from Absan al-Kabira was killed on December 13, 2023, after being fatally wounded by a bullet to the head. The shot was fired from an Israeli quadcopter drone while she was at a UNRWA shelter school in the al-Dhahra area, west of Khan Younis. She was the second person killed in the same area in less than 24 hours.
