Habiba Abdel Qader

Habiba Abdel Qader

Age 8

She was a child who loved life. She carried a paintbrush, not a rocket, and yet the occupation killed her, for it targets every stone and person in the Gaza Strip. She had many dreams, but the enemy deprived her mother of them, killing her dreams and ambitions that would have grown with her. Habiba was 8 years old. She loved art and wanted to become a doctor. She learned about human rights and children's rights, and she understood well that she had a right to education, health, play, and to live peacefully in a safe homeland. But she did not receive any of her rights; as a Palestinian child, her rights were her greatest wishes. On Saturday night, October 14, Habiba was at home drawing a picture when the enemy bombed her house. She soared to the sky like a bird, with her innocence, her beauty, and her stolen childhood.
