Hind Rajab Hamada
Age 6 · 29 January 2024 · Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, Gaza
Her tragic story shook the world. She was killed in cold blood by the occupation while she was with her family in a car in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, west of Gaza.
The occupation forces killed her family members who were with her in the car, leaving her as the sole survivor. She called the Red Crescent, told them she was the only one left alive, and asked to be rescued.
The Red Crescent team tried to call back, confirming that Hind was still alive. Her uncle also stayed in contact with her, trying to calm her by telling her that an ambulance was on its way to evacuate her.
In an urgent mission, a Red Crescent crew was dispatched to rescue her, coordinating through the Palestinian liaison office. However, contact with the crew was lost hours after they set out. Hind remained missing and her fate unknown for more than 10 days, before she was discovered to have been killed, along with the ambulance crew and everyone else who had been in the car.
