Ahmed Rani Samour
Age 11
Imagine your own flesh and blood, your precious son, being shot before your very eyes as you wait for him to cross the street to come to you. He is running towards you, happy, and suddenly he falls as a martyr and time stops from the shock. You feel like you're in a nightmare. You run to him but you can't reach him, can't pull him out of danger, can't hold him or even give him a final farewell look. You stand helpless, unable to do anything but watch him from afar and say, 'I entrust you to God, my son,' and continue on your way, tears on your cheeks, the image of his fall never leaving you. You might say this is just imagination, but this is what happened to me, and to others.
May God have mercy on you, my beloved Ahmed. You were sweet, special, and so very clever, and you knew God's book by heart. You always made me proud of you. You loved life; you took care of yourself and your appearance. You were beloved by your family, your teachers, and your friends. You were mischievous and full of energy, but you were so charming. Oh, my son, how you have broken our hearts. You have gone to the One who is more merciful than us. You are at rest; you have gone to the Lord of all worlds. A bird of paradise, my son. You left me behind to struggle with sorrow, full of anguish for you, wishing I could be with you.
On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 1:00 in the afternoon, my world went dark with your departure, oh soul of my soul, my son. May the Lord grant us patience in your absence.
