Mohammed Ismail al-Hassayna
Age 11
Mohammed was a child and a man at the same time. He always used to say, "I'm a big man," and acted in ways far beyond his years. He was not like any other child his age; he was devoted to his prayers and had memorized six parts of the Quran. He wanted to memorize it completely to crown his parents with the crown of dignity, but the occupation, in its arrogance, killed him and cut short his ambitions and dreams. He was dutiful to his parents, well-mannered, and loved by all who met him. He always liked to give his opinion on everything, had refined taste in clothing, and would even weigh in on how things looked. He liked to be self-reliant and take responsibility for others. He was very affectionate toward both his sisters, protective of them as if he were their father. He was no ordinary child.
Mohammed is not a number. Mohammed was ambitious, passionate, and had dreams, and the occupation killed him in cold blood on a night of a so-called humanitarian truce. Mohammed was martyred, leaving behind a mother dying from longing to see and hold him, and a sister who considered him her world. Mohammed is now in God's paradise. He ascended to God's mercy along with his sister and his father, in a massacre the occupation committed against the al-Hassayna and Abu Shari'a families, which claimed the lives of 120 people who had ambitions, dreams, and lives.
