Sidra Ayman Matar

The beautiful, innocent child, one year and three months old, developed acute pneumonia after being exposed to bombardment with gas and smoke bombs. About a month later, her oxygen supply was cut off while she was in the intensive care unit at Kamal Adwan Hospital, and she ascended as a martyr to Heaven. Her mother mourned her, saying: "Two weeks ago, on Saturday, December 23rd, I bid farewell to the apple of my eye and the core of my heart, my mother. And today, Saturday, January 6th, I bid farewell to my own flesh and blood, my precious daughter Sidra. The eye weeps and the heart grieves, and we are truly saddened by their parting, but we say only what pleases God. We belong to God, and to Him we shall return."
